Falling in the forest

A 1 - 1 performative experience surrounding the themes of love and hate.

Falling in the forest was a 1-1 interactive and immersive experience that put the audience in the position of practitioner rather than ‘viewer’.  The piece explored the base emotions of Love and Hate, allowing the audience member to express their own emotion in a illusive area.

Production

Before entering the performance space the audience member was given the choice of two envelopes, one that bore the word ‘Love’ and the other that bore the word ‘Hate’.  After selecting their envelope the audience member then opened it and read one of the following texts;

The audience member could then enter the space.

In the room there was a single table with two chairs.  At the table was the actor, who did not speak throughout the performance.  As the audience members talk in the room the actor moved and/or interacted with them silently in response.  The audience member could leave the room at any time.

Falling in the forest had no documentation from participants who entered the space.  The only people who heard what was said during their performance was the audience member and the performer.
